Our experts can offer you sound advice on preparing an NHS Continuing Healthcare Funding appeal submission preparation.
If you have received a decision of ineligibility for an NHS Continuing Healthcare Funding, you will be able to appeal. Based on the information you provide, we can prepare your written appeal submission for you. This could give you a higher chance of winning the appeal.
How Does a Healthcare Funding Appeal Work?
We can prepare your written appeal argument. This can be done as part of our representation of you throughout the entire appeals process. However, some clients would prefer to present a healthcare funding appeal themselves. If you would like to go down that route, we can prepare your appeal argument as an isolated task.
Our experts can prepare your written healthcare funding appeal submission for Local Disputes Resolution with your local NHS Integrated Care Board (ICB). Alternatively, we can prepare your written appeal submission to NHS England for Independent Review Panel.
What Do We Need in Order to Advise You?
At the very least, we need to see the decision paperwork issued to you at the ICB. If you instruct us to prepare your initial written argument as part of the Local Disputes Resolution process with the ICB, we will need to see the outcome letter and a full copy of the Decision Support Tool (DST).
If you’re later in the process and are ready to ask NHS England to convene an Independent Review Panel, we need to see the original decision outcome letter and DST. We will also need all paperwork that has been issued by the ICB as part of the continuing healthcare funding appeal. For example, this may include a further decision letter and a report following the Local Disputes Resolution meeting.
In retrospective cases, you may also have a Needs Portrayal Document to provide to us. Or you may have obtained care home and/or medical records, which we can also take into account.
Whilst preparing your appeal submission, we may decide that further evidence should be obtained to support your appeal.
If you’re instructing us to prepare your written healthcare funding appeal submission and we are not acting on your behalf, then the written appeal submission will be lodged with the NHS by you.
It can also be very helpful for you to tell us in writing of any concerns or observations you have about decision the ICB has reached, so that we can take this into account when providing our advice.
How Much Does a Healthcare Funding Appeal Cost?
You only pay us for the time we spend on your case. Once we’ve identified the right service for you, we will provide you with a clear and accurate estimate of our fees in advance of undertaking the review. We understand that each case is different, which means that fees can vary. Our advice to you will be tailored to meet your specific needs.
Healthcare Funding Appeal Client Case Studies
Our dad has challenging behaviour due to dementia and he scored a Severe in Cognition and only a High in Behaviour on the DST. The MDT’s explanation for not giving him a Severe in Behaviour didn’t stack up. Had they given him a Severe level of need, he’d have had two Severe scores and would have got the funding.
We instructed them to draft our appeal argument. They had a way with words and knew the National Framework back to front. We’ve so much confidence in their work that we’ve now asked them to represent us at our appeal meeting.
I attended my mum’s CHC assessment and the MDT wanted to know my opinion on the level of her needs in each of the health need areas they consider. The nurse was miles apart on so many of the levels of need and I needed some guidance about what could be argued. I found them online and after discussing the DST with them, I instructed them to prepare the appeal for me. It’s great to be clear on the levels of need I should be arguing and why, and to know that I’m not raising arguments which won’t wash.
