The news of the sacking of Jose Mourinho by Chelsea FC earlier today (Thursday 17 December 2015) will no doubt be prompting his solicitor to get his calculator out . Mourinho could claim unfair dismissal but as this is capped at a measly £78,335 , he is unlikely to waste the £250 issue fee in the employment tribunal. Rather, he will be expecting his lawyer to fight for the estimated £12 million owed on his contract and will no doubt enter into a Settlement Agreement to deal with this and other issues surrounding the termination of his contract.
This will doubtless include the pending trial relating to his dispute earlier in the season with Dr Eva Carneiro, who has since resigned and is said to be claiming constructive dismissal and sex discrimination. These claims are directed at Mourinho personally, which means that he is a party to these proceedings. He may yet have to appear as a witness but is unlikely to be bringing his own claim.
