A worker, who won nearly £500,000 in damages from a local council after she was sacked from her job, has won payouts in other damages claims.

Pauline Scanlon won half a million after being sacked from her job as equalities officer with Redcar and Cleveland Council. After a five-year legal battle and following a number of appeals, the original payout of £450,000 to Miss Scanlon for discrimination and sexual harassment was upheld.

However, it emerged that the damages were just the latest in a series of claims that Mrs Scanlon has made, dating back to 1995. She was awarded over £5,000 for sexual harassment and constructive dismissal after she worked for Liverpool City Council between 1993 and 1995, received over £1,000 a month for a four-month period after claiming unfair dismissal from a job with the Liverpool Federation of Council Tenants and Residents Association and received an undisclosed sum from Pendle Council after claiming that she had not received extra pay after working for the council between 2001 and 2002.

The latest, much bigger payout, comes after she was sacked for having a poor working relationship with fellow employees and refusing to co-operate. However, she claims that she was forced out after a campaign of harassment, saying that she had been excluded from meetings and that her efforts had been undervalued.
