Solicitor Ralph Ross recently retired after 53 years of practice. He began his working life in November 1958 at J Bryan Smith & Co, a firm which was eventually taken over in 1996 by Ian Gillis & Co. In December 2008 he joined our legal team. Gloria Rodriguez, who has been his secretary since 1985, also made the move with him.
Ralph was on the Duty Solicitor Rota for many years, until he grew tired of being called out in the middle of the night (and sometimes more than once) and concluded that it was “a young man’s game” so decided to come off the rota.
“These have probably been the most enjoyable years of my career. I leave Winston’s with a very warm feeling towards the firm, who have made me feel so welcome in my twilight years” said Ralph. “The firm is still growing and have managed to retain a family feel even with a team of over 40 people.”
Jonathan Winston, in his speech at Ralph’s retirement party said, “Ralph has brought not only a wealth of experience to the practice, but a sense of where Solicitors came from. He has acted for families of clients for over 50 years, a mark of how well liked and respected he is.”
