The St Gemma’s 10th Annual Art Exhibition got off to an encouraging start with the patrons’ evening sponsored by Winston Solicitors. The exhibition raised over £17,000 for the local hospice where costs now exceed £8million per year, the majority of which must be raised from donations and fundraising initiatives.
To mark the 10th Anniversary of the exhibition, The Suzanne Winston Award for best in show was presented by Jonathan Winston, in memory of his late mother. This is to become an annual award, voted for by the visitors to the exhibition; this year’s award was won by Philip Hill. Taking inspiration from the Yorkshire countryside and coastline, Philip impressed the visitors with his thoughtful watercolours of our familiar landscape.
