It is with great sadness that we report the death of our dear friend and colleague Lys Chadwick, who passed away on 21st August after a two year battle against cancer.
Lys went to study law at University College London in 1969, and after graduating she had a distinguished career as a solicitor, working at Jack Chadwick Solicitors (her father’s firm), Zermansky & Partners, and Winston Solicitors. She joined Winston’s as a consultant in 2007, having been a partner at Zermansky’s since the 1980s.
At Winston’s Lys was a key member of our Private Client team, specialising in wills, probate, and lasting powers of attorney. She was intelligent, conscientious, and hard-working, but probably her most important quality as a solicitor was her compassion and deep care for her clients. This made her an especially good person for clients to talk to at times of misfortune or anticipated misfortune.
Lys was a splendid colleague, always willing to discuss problems with colleagues, and to offer support when needed.
During the last two years, Lys bore her illness with enormous dignity and fortitude. She rarely complained, and continued working until shortly before she died, even though she was not at all well, and had to endure several courses of chemotherapy.
We shall all miss her greatly, and we extend our condolences to her husband Barry, and her sister Pat.
