Jean joined Winston Solicitors in September 2010 having had a wealth of management experience in the industry. Although Jean was, tragically, only with us for 18 months or so before she was taken ill, she made a huge contribution to the firm itself, and to all who work here. On the technical side, Jean was extremely effective and efficient. She oversaw the introduction of a complex computerised case management system, the success of which would have been impossible without Jean. She also had a pivotal role in preparing the firm for LEXCEL (the Law Society’s standard of excellence) accreditation, and in ensuring that our plans, policies, and procedures were compliant with that standard.
These achievements in themselves mean that Jean will always have a significant place in the history of Winston’s. However, of even more importance, Jean will be remembered as an extraordinary human being who touched the lives of all of us. She had an extraordinary gift for making those she talked to feel special; she had enormous patience, enthusiasm, and kindness. Her cheerfulness and the twinkle in her eye were infectious. She greatly enjoyed life and (or maybe because) she was always thinking of other people.
She was far too young to die. Whilst we are dealing with our own bereavement, we send our deepest condolences to Jean’s husband Stuart, to her children Rosie and Jonathan, and to her parents.
Our photos show Jean at her best, enjoying life and every challenge that came her way. Taking part in a sponsored firewalk, conquering stilt walking and donating blood on Halloween.
