Driving instructor delves into the mind to help learner drivers

A Leeds driving instructor has come up with a new way of trying to get learner drivers to pass their test.

Javez Khan, who is also a trained hypnotherapist, wants to get into the drivers subconscious minds to help them become more accomplished drivers. He says that as well as teaching them “mirror signal manoeuvre”, he is also practising relaxation techniques and focussing on using the unconscious brain.

Khan says that his driving school, which has the tagline “training for people with test nerves” has delivered a success rate of eight out of 10 drivers passing their test first time compared to a national average of three in 10.

He claims: “People come to me from other driving schools and the words and language that has been used by the trainers put them off. But with me, somebody can get behind the wheel, and be in a completely different state of mind within minutes. My whole ethos of someone coming and sitting in the car is about learning to drive, yes, but also about being a bigger, better person.”
