It is testament to the volunteers and team at St Gemma’s Hospice that their Annual Art Exhibition continues to attract fantastic artists and so many visitors. Listening to the buzz and chatter around the room brings home how much of a well-loved event the exhibition has become.
Winston Solicitors once again sponsored the Patrons’ Evening, during which guests enjoyed the work on display, canapés and drinks, and the exhibition volunteers appreciated all the activity at the sales desk.
Almost 900 pieces of art were exhibited from which visitors were encouraged to vote for their favourite work. A delighted Helen Oxtoby, who paints under the name of Pipox Art, received the most votes, and was presented with The Suzanne Winston Award for Best In Show.
Helen sold the majority of her show pieces, the most popular of which were of the method ‘thrown art’, a style which truly makes each piece unique and gives life and depth to the subjects.
The four day exhibition and sale raised an incredible £28,000, a vital contribution to the daily running costs at St Gemma’s Hospice.
